Pico Laser for Melasma or Tattoos

The wrong laser could worsen your condition or take longer to treat. Pigment is Best Treated Using a Pico laser

A picosecond laser is more efficient (less treatment needed) than a Q-switched laser. The Pico destroys pigment using photoacoustic effect not a photothermal (heat) effect. Which is why the risk of post inflammatory hyperpigmentation is reduced with the Pico (3-7% vs 20-30%) than the Q-Switched.

Also, the Pico creates less collateral damage, so healing is faster.

The way a Pico laser works is through a photoacoustic, not photothermal effect. The high energy/very fast pulse hits the pigment and vaporizes it, generating an LIOB (Laser Induced Optical Breakdown) that results in a plasma bubble (very high energy mix of free electrons and charged particles – the fourth state of matter) The reaction generates sound, and the photoacoustic effects activate fibroblasts, which create a state of skin rejuvenation.

The number of treatments depend on the density of your pigment or for tattoos, the color and type of ink.
