Ultherapy
Ultherapy is an FDA-cleared, non-invasive, treatment that uses focused ultrasound energy to stimulate collagen production in the deep tissue planes of the skin.
What is Ultherapy?
Ultherapy is primarily a single-session treatment, with most patients seeing their desired skin-tightening results from just one treatment. The treatment works by delivering ultrasound energy to specific depths of the skin’s surface – 4.5mm, 3mm, and 1.5mm. That energy triggers the body’s natural healing response, stimulating new production of collagen and elastin at multiple deep skin levels.
The results are lifting and tightening of the skin on face, neck, chin, and brow. With no downtime, bruises, or scars.
Face Mapping for Ultherapy
Face mapping is critical for procedure planning. Dr. B takes high-definition facial ultrasound pictures using the Clarius L20 Handheld Ultrasound. He takes depth measurements at the SMAS (Superficial Musculoaponeurotic System), middle dermis and superficial dermis levels at 11 key areas of the face and neck.
The measurements help him correct face symmetry and determine how many pulses to deliver with the different transducers. And will help improve face symmetry.
When will I see results?
Results typically develop in two phases. Some patients notice subtle improvement during the first week after treatment, as existing collagen tightens. Additional results will occur gradually over a six-month period.
If you have severe skin laxity, we recommend a second treatment after 6 months, to maximize collagen production.
As we continue to mature, touch-up treatments are generally recommended every 1 to 2 years to keep your skin lifted and firm
What is the Treatment Preparation for Ultherapy?
- If you are prone to bruising, we recommend starting Arnica Montana 3–5 days before your procedure and continuing it for up to one week afterward to help reduce bruising and swelling.
- Avoid medications and supplements that can thin the blood, such as aspirin, high-dose anti-inflammatory medications, and fish oil.
- Determine desired pain control method. The doctor can prescribe pain blockers, numb the treatment area, and use cold air, the Zimmer, to reduce treatment pain.
- Wear loose, comfortable clothing to your appointment.
What is the Aftercare for Ultherapy?
- Wear a compression garment for three nights to help with lymphatic drainage.
- You may apply makeup immediately after treatment.
- Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours.
